Every time you flip a light switch or turn on the TV or computer, we know you’re counting on the power to be there when you need it. And it takes a lot of poles, wires and people to deliver the electricity you rely on, as you go about your daily lives. Our generation equipment that provides 1,300 megawatts of coal, natural gas and landfill gas-powered electricity and our electric infrastructure, including 5,200 miles of transmission and distribution lines and 120 substations, ensure we can meet the electric demand of more than 142,000 customers in a seven-county service territory in providing safe and reliable service.

When delivery costs increase, we need to adjust our prices to deliver on our promise to provide safe and reliable electric service. It’s the only way we can attract and borrow the millions in investment dollars needed to maintain and enhance our system. What does that mean to you? After a comprehensive review of Vectren’s operating costs and investments to serve customers, the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC) approved an average monthly bill increase of around $10 to $11 per month for the typical electric customer using 900 killowatt hours (kWh) per month on April 27, 2011. The new electric rates will likely take effect in early May 2011.

This site will answer your questions regarding Vectren’s electric rate adjustment, including justification for the increase, the filing process and ways you can conserve energy through energy efficiency tips and rebates.
