Title_Our Advantage
Cleanest in the region: The pollution control equipment at Vectren’s power plants makes our coal-fired units among the cleanest in the Midwest.

Scrubbed for harmful chemicals: Vectren’s power plants are 100% scrubbed for sulfur dioxide, 90% controlled for nitrogen oxide and significantly controlled for mercury and particulate matter.

Ahead of the game: Only 35% of Indiana’s total electric generation is expected to meet all proposed air quality rules that were finalized in 2011 without further significant capital investments; Vectren’s power plants are included in that 35%.

Title_Impact of EPA Rules on other Utilities
More stringent Environmental Protection Agency air quality rules will require many neighboring utilities to spend billions of dollars to comply, or some may decide to shut down their uncontrolled units, which will leave thousands unemployed and erode the tax base those plants generate for their respective communities.
